We are proud to share our award-winning preschool in the Bronx. This project for La Escuela Comunitaria del Bronx was honored in the 2024 NYCxDESIGN Awards as the winner of the Education category. Collaborating closely with our client, La Escuela Comunitaria del Bronx (ECB), we infused the 15,000 SF space with the school’s identity and values.

In configuring the school’s layout, we prioritized natural light and spatial efficiency. We maximized daylight by removing an existing perimeter corridor, giving each classroom direct access to windows. This enhances the learning environment and contributes to energy efficiency and sustainability.

We recognized the generous east-facing terrace as more than just an outdoor space. We envisioned it as a dynamic playground and outdoor classroom, ready to inspire and engage students in hands-on learning experiences. Strategically, we located the indoor movement room with convenient access to the terrace.

We approached each classroom with a keen eye for detail and functionality. Understanding the importance organization in educational spaces, we designed tailored solutions that activate the windows and maximize storage.

Central to the school’s design is the versatile multipurpose room, designed to develop both school and community. Further fostering a sense of belonging and pride, we integrated ECB’s brand identity throughout the school with bright colors, graphics, and murals.

Our award-winning design for La Escuela Comunitaria del Bronx is a testament to collaboration and innovation. From the vibrant outdoor playground to the warm and inviting classrooms, the space reflects our dedication to creating environments that inspire learning, growth, and community.
