Eleven of Eleven attends ECB’s Ribbon Cutting

The ribbon cutting for La Escuela Comunitaria del Bronx was held on May 31, 2024. The photos below show the beautiful evening event honoring the new school, the ECB foundation and Board members, and the design and construction team.

ECB and Eleven of Eleven attended the ceremony alongside NY State Senator Luis Sepulveda, Bronx Borough President Vanessa Gibson, Assembly Member Michael Blake and other local dignitaries and community members. The remarks transcribed below were given by Emily Marmolejos, Head of School at La Escuela Comunitaria del Bronx, on the special occasion:

 
 

“ECB is my dream come true; as an early childhood educator, a Latina, and a New York City kid. It has become real in this space, which has been designed by Eleven of Eleven, a woman-owned firm led by Carol Gretter. They just won the NYCxDesign Education Award specifically for this space. Congratulations!

Thank you Carol and your team for listening to not only my requests, but to board members’ insights and suggestions, to helping us build and truly reflect a space that promotes children’s development, independence, and active participation. Thank you for making this vision come true in such a beautiful way.
The aesthetic beauty is a reflection of our child-honoring process and creativity, and we couldn’t be more grateful. To quote an ECB parent, “Wow, Miss Emily, you really did think of everything for our kids.“”
